Chamba, Himachal Pradesh |
Capital: Shimla Synopsis: Himachal is situated in west Himalayas bordered by the region of Tibet on the east.. Other important towns of Himachal are: Manali, Chamba, Dharamsala, Solan, Kullu and Dalhousie.
Southern region of Himachal becomes warm during summers. Northern region stays less hot but gets cold in winters because of heavy rainfall. Landscape of Himachal comprises of lush green valleys, lakes ,glaciers and snow capped peaks. Agriculture and horticulture are the main occupation of the inhabitants here.
Wood carving, carpet weaving, paintings, leather goods and metal carving are some of the the famous crafts of the Himachal region. There are many places for sight seeing.

Capital: Leh.
Synopsist: Ladakh is the largest district of Jammu and Kasmir and least populated district of India. Famous for its Buddhist culture, it is sometimes referred as 'small Tibet'.
It is bounded by two powerful mountain ranges Karakoram and Himalayas. Ladakh is a high altitude desert and the temperature can go as low as -40 degrees Celsius in winters. Stark landscapes and magnificent trekking routes make it an ideal tourist attraction.
Religious ceremonies, oracles and festivals are a great part of Ladakhi culture. Crafts like painting, weaving, metal work and wood carving are widely found here. Monasteries of Ladakh are another visible feature of its culture. Polo and archery are famous traditional sports.

Languages: Hindi and Garhwali
Synopsis: Uttaranchal region of Himalayas is divided into two parts. Western half is called Garhwal and eastern part is known as Kumaon.
Pauri is the administrative center of Garhwal and other districts include Dehradun, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag.
Garhwal has rugged mountains running in all directions which are separated by beautiful valleys. These valleys becomes deep gorges at some places. Climate remains pleasant throughout the year.
Nanda Devi, Kamet and Trishul are the main peaks of this area. Garhwal also has four holy shrines of Hindus which are: Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri.
Gangotri & Yamunotri are the sources of most sacred rivers of India, Ganga and Yamuna.

Synopsis: Kumaon extends from the northern end of the Ganga to the Tibet. Beautiful temples of the region are known for their architectural excellence.
Scenic wonders of Kumaon include its snow crowned mountains, crystal glaciers, rivers, lakes and amazing flora & fauna.
Nainital, Almora and Champawat are some of the important divisions of the region.
Famous handicrafts of Kumaon are basket weaving, wood carving and ethnic paintings.
They also celebrate a number of festivals including Nanda Devi Rajjat, Chhipla Jaat, Kandli and many more.

Synopsis: Sikkim is a small but extremely beautiful region situated in Eastern Himalayas. It is spread around Mount Kanchenjunga whose altitude is 8543 meters and is the third highest mountain in the world. People of Sikkim consider it as their protective deity.
Reaching Sikkim is a rewarding experience in itself as there are high peaks covered with eternal snow, fast flowing rivers, green valleys, quite lakes and a large variety of flora and fauna.
Sikkim receives a heavy rainfall and its temperature varies from tropical heat in valleys to cold in the high altitudes.
