It was the world’s first 7,000 m peak to be climbed. Nanda Devi lies northeast of Trisul and is connected by a narrow crest. Trisul is believed to be the trident of Lord Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction and reproduction. In the earlier expeditions porters feared climbing this summit because of fear of Lord Shiva. |
