It had thwarted attempts by J.T.M Gibson in 1953 and 1955. In 1968 it was climbed by a team from Doon school . The first ski ascent and descent was done by a adventure sport club from United Kingdom. There is a black rock which juts out of the western rampart of the mountain. Since it resembles the head of the snake it is called the Kalanag. It is most climbed and best known peak of the Garhwal region. |
