synopsis: It is the highest point on the Manali-Keylong road. Situated 51 km from Manali town, this pass provides a breathtaking view of the mountains above the cloud and provides immense trekking opportunities although skiing opportunities are limited. The pass is generally open from June to September. Trekkers can access it from May itself. Rohtang pass connects the Kullu valley with Lahul and Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh. This pass is considered to be dangerous because of unpredictable storm. There is a spring at the top of the pass which is the source of River Beas. |
