Zemu

Zemu Glacier
Length: 26 Kilo Meters
Location: North Sikkim, Sikkim
Surrounding Peaks: Kanchenjunga,Siniolchu Peak,Simvu Peak,Pyramid Peak
Surrounding Pass: Theulacha pass

Getting There: 
Airport:

Bagdogra is the nearest airhead which is situated at a distance of 124 km from Gangtok, From Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati regular flights are there.

Railhead:

New Jalpaiguri is the closest railhead located around 148 km away from Gangtok. Delhi, Kolkata , Guwahati and other major cities are connected to New Jalpaiguri by regular trains.

Road:

Gangtok is connected with Bhutan, Darjeeling and Phuntsholing with road.


Synopsis: 
Rated as one of the largest and famous glacier of eastern Himalayas, it is a 26 km long glacier located in a U-shaped valley at the base of Khangchendzonga massif in northwestern Sikkim. Teesta river rises from the snout of this glacier. Waterfalls have formed at the junction of the tributary glacier with the Zemu glacier.
