It is the second largest urban center of Ladakh region and is located along the Suru basin. It is famous for it’s apricot and other fruits.
Kargil serves as a base for activities like camping, mountaineering, trekking, river rafting in the Himalayan valley. It is also used as base for short excursions. Kargil provides interesting walks up the hills and along the river bank. Walking along the river Suru you get an excellent view of the township. While walking up the hill you come across views of amazing landscape and mountain streams.
