In 1995, the district of Udham Singh Nagar was formed out of Nainital District. Presently, the district is divided in three main sun division Kashipur ,Rudrapur and Khatima. Rudrapur is the headquarters of this district.
In order to pay tribute to the great freedom fighter Late Udham Singh, the district was named after him. He was the one who killed General Dyer for his sinful act at Jalliyanwala Bagh. This place has become a popular tourist spot. This district is also known for its communal harmony and brotherhood. The district has become a stock box of variety of cultures, religions and life styles.
