Located on the Haldwani-Almora road at a height of 1706 m above sea level is the township of Bhowali. It can be easily accessed from Nainital which is 11 km away and is famous for it’s T.B sanatorium established in 1912. Three km away from Bhowali is the temple of Golu Devta, a demi god. He is immensely worshipped by Kumaonis. It is a host to number of educational institutes, the famous one being Sainik School of India. It is also known as a hill fruit mart.
