Mussoorie

Mussoorie
Suspended on the top of a high ridge, Mussoorie is one of the most admired and popular hill stations in Uttaranchal. The green hills and wide-range of vegetation in this region along with its closeness to Delhi adds another reason for its popularity. It gives a spectacular outlook of the Himalayan snow ranges and of the Doon Valley. Mussoorie is expediently connected by road to Delhi. It also marks an entry gate to the Yamunotri and Gangotri, place of pilgrimage. The birth of this hilly place goes back to 1820, when Captain Young, an exploratory armed official set the core for its growth. That core was "The Mullingar", the house which Capt. Young built. Because the setting was suitably close to Dehradun so a whole lot of people initiated to fabricate their cottages here.
